Plant Propagation Manager

Downes Wholesale Nursery is looking for a highly motivated person. The successful applicant must have good people and motivational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and an eye for detail.

You will lead a team of 5-9 people who you will need to motivate to meet targets and forecast production and keep and follow detailed procedures for propagation techniques.

A minimum of 5 years in the horticultural industry, preferably in plant propagation / production.

You should:

Be hard working, enthusiastic with a passion for learning and teaching and the ability to motivate staff.

Be able to identify a broad range of native and exotic plants and their growing requirements and propagation techniques.

Have relevant qualifications or experience is plant production.

Have excellent forecasting and record keeping skills.

Have a good understanding of plant requirements and greenhouse production for example you need to understand temperature, humidity, light and fertilizing and the effects these factors have on plant growth.

Wholesale Nursery Sales Person for one of the largest wholesale nurseries on the east coast of Australia.

In this challenging role you will have the opportunity to learn about many and varied plant species and their requirements, marketing, client relations as well as many other facets of business development and the nursery industry on a large scale.
