Cupressocyparis leylandii Leightons Green is a large evergreen tree
It is a very fast and dense growing, very large conifer. It is used for hedges, screens and wind breaks, but care should be taken with planting.
Used extensively on farms and larger properties as large screens, windbreaks and protection for livestock. In the home garden it is used as formal hedging and screening.
Leightons Green is very hardy. It likes full sun or part shade and well drained, fertile soil but will tolerate nearly all soil types.
Foliage: great green colour all year round
Planting requirements: The best time to plant is after seasonal rains – just tease out the roots and put some pine bark fines down on top as mulch to keep the soil moist and warm.
Uses: Hedging – for privacy screening
Care: prune 2-3 times a year if needed. Early spring, early summer and early autumn.
