Nursery update 1 year at Theresa Park in Western Sydney

newsletter-2006

It’s been a year since we began construction and six months since the first plants were potted at our newest site at Theresa Park. Our 145 acre property is developing fast with well over 500,000 plants from ranging from tube stock to 400 litre on top of our already huge range of plants at Werombi and Alstonville.

Our 70 metre-long indoor plant shed is now completed and full of beautiful stock ranging from 150mm Birds Nest Ferns  and up to 100 litre Golden Cane Palms. We also have a huge range of tropical and shade loving plants in our 4 acre shade house.

Our water recycling program is working efficiently. The aquatic plants in our swale are doing their job, removing silt and nutrients from the water resulting in no algae blooms over summer, which is always good news. We have created a series of weirs in the main swale that collects water which is about 500 meters long. The weirs act as settling ponds for silt and debris. As the water moves slowly from weir to weir more debris settles in each one. Our water run off is clear by the time it reaches the dam. The base has also been filled with gravel, in which beneficial bacteria will build up and act as a biological filter as water flows through it, further helping to improve water quality.
